Twenty-eight houses and forty-four apartments stepped down a south-facing slope above the River Wharfe, arranged so that every home sees the valley and none of them sees a car. Parking is held at the top of the site and the whole of the lower slope is landscape.

Slateon Valley answers a question rural housing usually dodges: how to add seventy-two homes to a protected landscape without the landscape noticing. The answer was to give the ground back more than the buildings took.
